Local Toronto artists Kae Sun just released a new EP titled ‘Outside the barcode’. This was a really fun project to work with a very sincere and genuinely talented artists. Along with co producer Josh Sadlier-Brown, we aimed for a stripped down acoustic approach to this record. Using a different environment was just as important as the sonic approach we were shooting for so we headed out the beautiful big live room at Escarpment Sound studio in Acton, Ontario to record everything live to analog tape. Mixing was done by Josh and myself at the m:k:soundworks production space and further using the same aesthetic approach we started with…including printing mixes back to tape and even creating some bizarre interlude soundscapes with our hands messing with the reels.
